12 Days of Christmas Over The Decades

One of Christmas's oldest traditions are its specific songs that warm our souls and bring into our homes the true spirit they conserved and kept alive over the years. Kept from mother to daughter, father to son, sang at friends gathering, social event and family Christmas parties, the song called 12 days of Christmas is a vibrant component part of our yearly Christmas joy. Over the decades, many variants of 12 days of Christmas emerged, and each and every one of us knows the song as we remember it from our childhood. Christmas is not complete without the traditional Christmas carols, and for causing a lovely mood heighten, singing the 12 days of Christmas is the booster in every party.

12 Days Bounding the Old and New Year

The 12 days of Christmas are carefully structured by religious sources so that they are quite equally arranged to fit half in the ending year, and the last half right at the beginning of the New Year, until the 6th of January. Western religious culture carved the significance of the 12 days of Christmas deep within its followers conscience, so now every God-loving man and Christmas enthusiast understand what they mean.

Basically, the 12 days of Christmas signify the time the magi took to arrive to child Jesus with their gifts. Their journey is supposed to have taken 12 days, from December the 26th until January the 6th. Therefore, western religion make some people give their seasonal gifts on the very last day, so that loved one would receive them on the exact date Jesus received his. In other parts of the world a gift is issued on every day, following the songs verses. Some rather pagan cultures use the significance of the 12 days as an opportunity to cast away all evils from the ending year and welcome a fresh evil-free new year. There are theories that explain how the Catholic Church invented the 12 days of Christmas song so that it is easier for its children to properly understand religion. Various symbols used in the song have a religious signification such as the turtle doves stand for the old and new year, the true loves is a symbol for God, the "me" pronoun used over and over in the song refers to catholic baptized followers and so on.

By the 12th day, the song brings out the gift of the "12 drummers drumming" , gift that stand for the faith of Jesus' apostles, structures on 12 basic major points in their dogma. By implementing all these hidden ideas, the church turned the 12 days of Christmas song from a holiday bliss to an amusing way of understanding and embracing God's belief for children.
