"A Christmas Story" - a Childhood Favorite

It's common that people would watch Christmas movies on Christmas; it somehow helps them discover easier the holiday spirit. Everyone has seen a least a couple Christmas movies, and we all have our favorites that we like to watch over and over again. May our favorite movie be "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "White Christmas", " A Christmas carol", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" or "A Christmas Story", the Christmas movies make us feel more "in-touch" with the seasonal spirit.

More recent and very accurate regarding the Christmas fuzz, "A Christmas Story" quickly became one of the top viewed Christmas movies mainly because we can see ourselves reflected in its characters. One of the funniest movies about the holiday season, it made us laugh when we were just kids and it?s still doing it now, after so many years.

The Christmas Story Outline

"A Christmas Story" is a movie complied from various short Christmas stories. I know it sounds weird, but that is the way the movie came to life. Jean Shepherd, the writer of the funny short stories collection called "In God we Trust (All others Pay Cash).", decided to compile them all into a Christmas movie and did so in 1983, under the screen name "A Christmas Story". The screenplay written by him is imagined as a true story he remembers from him childhood and he decided to narrate for us all. Shepherd is the voice of the now grown up Ralphie, a little kid with a big Christmas wish. He has a very specific request for Santa, he wants a particular Christmas gift: a Daisy Red Rider 200 shot Carbine Action BB Air Rifle. The author outlined the movie back in the years of his own childhood, in the 1940's, and we can enjoy many traditional Christmas moments along with humorous incidents the kid goes through.

"A Christmas Story" was released to the public in the winter of 1983. It wasn't such a big success then, but as years passed on more and more people started by buy "A Christmas Story" DVD's and it slowly became a Christmas tradition in most houses. The movie made loads of profit from DVD sales, maybe even more than Shepherd ever predicted after the not-so-great success the movie had at its premiere.

For those of you out there that don't even know what I,m talking about, I suggest that this Christmas you free up a few hours, gather a few friends and rent or buy "A Christmas Story" DVD. You are bound to spend a memorable entertaining evening!
