A Wonderful Christmas Movie

Because on Christmas people have more spare time and they are all inclined to gather their family and friends for various activities, movies became one of the most popular entertainment choice during this time of year. Therefore, over the years, the Christmas repertoire has been enriched with various movies and television shows that win over more and more viewers every year. Being so many Christmas specials, some of older ones have hugely lost audience and ended up lost in time, much like The Flintstone?s Christmas Special.

Still, some movies managed to survive over the years, bravely fighting over audiences with new comers. Grinch movies, A Christmas Carol?s versions, the funny classic A Christmas story and many more are just some of the above. But if we were asked to actually give away the title of best Christmas movie, we would have no choice but to choose as its winner a stunning work of art by Frank Capra, the movie called ?It?s a wonderful life?

Not Successful From Release

For some reason, frank Capra released the movie in July, not on Christmas. Now, once we have seen the movie and already categorized it as a Christmas favorite, we feel shocked when given this information. But the thing is, A Wonderful Life was not written as a Christmas movie. The script doesn?t really concentrate over holiday period; its action is spread over several months. On release, the movie was harshly commented on by critics and it didn?t win many fans. Its Box Office debut was a disappointment, and it wasn?t until many years after that it became a huge success.

Because towards its end the action is situated during Christmas period, television producers decided to make a holiday special version of the movie. All the seasonal publicity and the remade version of the film made more and more people to watch it year after year. Unexpectedly, in a few years time, the movie managed to become rated as the most popular Yuletide films ever made.

So, why this sudden success? Well, as we all know on Christmas people enjoy watching films about good deeds, especially when every good deed gets a ten time over payback. The movie is a great entertainment means for the entire family, an educational lesson for children and a welcome morality review for grown-ups. It?s expected that A Wonderfull life will keep on gaining new audience year after year, assuring it with an everlasting place on the Christmas Specials? wall of fame.
